What our customers are saying

Such a great homey restaurant!! We stopped here on the way to Asheville after a full day of hiking in the Smokies. Once you walk in, you immediately feel like you're at your grandmother's! Cute country decor and sitting area are so cozy! We were warmly greeted by our server, and chose to sit outside to enjoy the view!!
The menu is rather big with good selection. We had the homemade meatloaf  and the local North Carolina trout. Both meals were delicious! The portions are big too, so you won't be disappointed. Prices are almost as friendly as the staff 🙂   Don't miss this quirky place with a great view!

We both had the biscuits and gravy and they were really good. Definitely homemade and big portions. Hashbrowns and bacon were crispy and tasty. The view and breeze from the screened in porch made for a perfect morning! Staff was friendly and attentive. We'll be back!

Cute, comfortable restaurant with pleasant country decor and very nice views. We came in with a large group of 16, which slightly overwhelmed the staff. But they did well to keep up as best they could. We stopped in for breakfast, the portions were large and prepared perfectly.

The History of The Mountaineer Restaurant

The restaurant has been in operation since the 60’s, with the original building built in the 30’s, making us one of several legends on the mountain.

The interior is cozy and friendly, with tongue and groove pine floors, ceiling and walls. We have a wood burning fireplaces for the chilly winter days and all of our skiing and tubing friends. The Blue Ridge Parkway is only 1.5 miles away, making us a great destination for summer and winter travelers and motorcycle enthusiasts!

We pride ourselves on Great Food, Great View, and Nice People. We’re “just up the Hill, but worth the drive” so come up and see us!
